Ritter Sport was established in 1912 as a chocolate and sugar confectionery factory by the Ritter couple. So why the name Ritter Sport? In 1932, Clara Ritter suggested creating chocolate that fits in every sports jacket pocket without breaking and has the same weight as a normal long bar. And so it was. The chocolate became a success and was launched under the name “Ritter’s Sport Schokolade”. The unique breakable design, patented by Ritter Sport, sets it apart from other chocolates. In 1990, Ritter Sport initiated the economic project CACAONICA in Nicaragua, supporting local cocoa growers in sustainable cultivation.
